Scot Spikers Sweep OWU, Fall to Kenyon in Five at NCAC Weekend

In its first North Coast Athletic Conference action of the season, The College of Wooster split its matches, sweeping Ohio Wesleyan University in three sets (25-17, 25-16, 25-17), but falling to Kenyon College (25-22, 21-25, 25-23, 18-25, 12-15) in a five-set marathon, during the initial NCAC weekend at Hiram, Ohio.

The Scots (9-8, 1-1 NCAC) had no problems getting by Ohio Wesleyan (2-13, 0-2 NCAC), thanks in large part to Sarah Hawke, as the junior smashed down 13 kills and just one error on 23 attempts (.522 hitting percentage). Also chipping in on Wooster's attack were the trio of Erica Skillman, Melissa Morgan, and Erin Webster, who each recorded five kills. Lizzi Beal rounded out the statistical leaders by dishing 32 assists and contributing on five block assists.

In its second match of the afternoon, Wooster went the distance with Kenyon College (7-8, 1-1 NCAC), only to get upended in the fifth set. Webster led the way with 13 kills, while Hawke again was solid in tallying another 11.

Wooster will compete in two more NCAC tilts tomorrow afternoon, this time against Denison University and Wittenberg University.
