Scots Tripped Up in Back-and-Forth Battle at Otterbein

<a href=Erin Webster" width="120" height="170"> In three closely contested sets, The College of Wooster volleyball team missed out on opportunities and dropped its match with Otterbein University (20-25, 21-25, 23-25) Wednesday evening at Westerville, Ohio.

It could have been a Scots' (10-10) sweep just as easily, but Wooster struggled to hold onto leads throughout the match, allowing the Cardinals (13-4) to creep back on several occasions. Trailing 11-13 in the opening set, the Scots went on a seven-point run behind strong serving from Lizzi Beal, which included two service aces, to take an 18-13 lead. Otterbein then rallied behind its own 12-2 run to win the set. The Scots also opened up the third set with a 4-0 lead that went for naught.

Paige Parker paced the offense with seven kills, while Erin Webster recorded five of her own. First-year Zoe Zwegat continued her strong play at the net, chipping in three block assists and adding a solo block in the setback.

Wooster will be back at Timken Gymnasium against fellow northeast Ohio school John Carroll University (13-7) next Tuesday at 7 p.m.
