Scots Serve Up Homecoming Sweep Over Oberlin

<a href= WOOSTER, Ohio – The College of Wooster volleyball team used a season-high 12 service aces to upend visiting North Coast Athletic Conference foe Oberlin College 3-0 (25-21, 25-15, 25-11), kicking off Homecoming weekend Friday evening at Timken Gymnasium.

Trailing 4-0 in the opening set, the Fighting Scots (12-10, 3-2 NCAC) stormed back utilizing the serve, as Paige Parker delivered four-consecutive aces to give Wooster a 10-9 lead. Both teams traded points for a while after that, until an Erin Webster kill and a solo block from Zoe Zwegat gave Wooster a four-point lead (22-18) that it wouldn't relinquish.

It was Lizzi Beal's turn to rack up the aces in the second set, as she turned a 14-11 lead into a 22-11 cushion after serving eight-straight points, which included three aces. Then in the third set, Wooster built an insurmountable 8-0 lead behind Meredith Kiefer, who recorded three kills and two block assists during the run.

Erin Webster (8 kills) and Paige Parker (6 kills) led the attack, while Beal was next in line with four kills and added 23 assists. It was also Parker and Beal that paced Wooster's serving onslaught with four aces apiece, while Devin Grandi (2 aces), Kelley Johnson (1 ace), and Melissa Morgan (1 ace) rounded out the category.

The Scots will be on the road tomorrow when they visit Ohio Wesleyan University (2-18, 0-7 NCAC) at 1 p.m.
