Led by Lizzi Beal's double-double (10 kills, 16 assists), The College of Wooster volleyball team swept northeast Ohio foe John Carroll University by scores of 25-18, 25-17, and 28-26 Wednesday evening at University Heights, Ohio.

In the opening set, the Fighting Scots (8-1) turned a 10-8 lead into a 19-8 cushion thanks in large part to Melissa Morgan's serving, which included three-straight aces.

Wooster trailed 12-11 in the second set, but then Zoe Zwegat made some key blocks to give the Scots the lead and momentum. John Carroll was still within two points (19-17) late in the set, but the Scots scored six-consecutive points, including two Paige Parker kills, to take a 2-0 series lead.

Finally, in the third set, the Scots trailed by as many as seven points (13-7), but they raced back to tie the score at 18-18. The teams went back-and-forth from that moment on, but eventually Wooster took advantage of some John Carroll miscues and pulled out the 28-26 victory.

Overall, Beal stood out on the stat sheet with 10 kills, 16 assists, and six digs. Also noteworthy, Morgan had eight kills and 10 digs, and Zwegat chipped in seven kills and four blocks.

The Scots will play their first home match of the season Friday against Muskingum University at 7 p.m.
