Scots Slowed by No. 4 Ranked Witt, Alderson-Broaddus

The College of Wooster volleyball team came up short in a pair of matches Saturday afternoon, which included a 3-0 setback to nationally-ranked North Coast Athletic Conference foe Wittenberg University, and a 3-1 defeat against non-conference opponent Alderson-Broaddus College at Springfield, Ohio.

The Tigers (19-2, 8-0 NCAC), ranked fourth in the most recent American Volleyball Coaches Association Top-25 Poll, powered past the Scots (14-7, 4-4 NCAC) by set scores of 25-18, 25-12, and 25-9, while the Battlers (9-13) won a much more closely-contested match 25-19, 25-14, 23-25, and 25-17.

On the day, Lizzi Beal led the team with 11 kills, and posted a near triple-double against Alderson-Broaddus with eight kills, 10 assists, and 17 digs. Paige Parker was next in line with a combined nine kills, while Zoe Zwegat racked up two blocks solos and six block assists on the afternoon.

The Scots will look to get back into the win column when they visit Allegheny College Wednesday at 7 p.m.
