Wooster Outlasts Allegheny in Marathon Five-Setter

In one of the most lengthy and closely-contested volleyball matches in recent memory, The College of Wooster managed to outlast Allegheny College to pull out a victory in the fifth set Wednesday evening in North Coast Athletic Conference action at Meadville, Pa.

The Scots (15-7, 5-4 NCAC) topped the Gators (8-16, 1-7 NCAC) by set scores of 26-28, 25-19, 24-26, 32-30, and 15-12.

Trailing 11-12 in the fifth set, the Scots rattled off four-consecutive points to finally take the match, which included a kill from Zoe Zwegat and a pair of blocks that Zwegat and Catherine Benton went in on together.

On the night, Zwegat recorded a career-high 15 kills, while Erica Skillman (13), Paige Parker (12), and Lizzi Beal (10) each posted double-digit kills as well.

Beal and Autumn Berry were both productive at the setter positions, dishing out 31 and 25 assists, respectively.

Next, the Scots will host the final NCAC Weekend of the season, which they will kick off with a match against Oberlin College Saturday at 10 a.m.
