The College of Wooster volleyball team saw its season come to an end Friday evening, as nationally-ranked powerhouse Wittenberg University swept the Fighting Scots by set scores of 25-11, 25-11, and 25-20 in a North Coast Athletic Conference Tournament semifinal match-up at Springfield, Ohio.

The Tigers (30-3) entered the match ranked No. 5 in NCAA Div. III in the latest American Volleyball Coaches Association Coaches Top 25 Poll, and they looked every bit the part in this contest, by recording a .321 hitting percentage while limiting the Scots (22-10) to a season-low 17 kills.

Offensively, Melissa Morgan (6 kills, 10 digs) and Zoe Zwegat (5 kills, 1 solo block) had the most success. Autumn Berry and Lizzi Beal combined to dish out 13 assists, and Kelley Johnson, who was named to the all-tournament team, recorded a game-high 14 digs.

The Scots won 22 matches during the 2011 season, their second-highest win total of the last 27 years.
