Scots Edged in Highly-Competitive Match with Gallaudet

The College of Wooster and Gallaudet University engaged in a highly-competitive match Wednesday evening, but the Fighting Scots were edged out in three close sets, 25-18, 25-19, and 25-21, at Washington, D.C.

The Scots played hard in the nation's capital, and were right there with the Bison throughout the entire match. Wooster trailed by just three (17-20) late in the opening set, just two in the second set (15-17), and even led 21-20 in the third, but each time Gallaudet was able to escape with a victory.

In the third set, Wooster went ahead at 8-7 and remained in the lead all the way to 21-20, until the Bison rallied to score the final five points of the set.

Ksenia Klue paced Wooster's attack with eight kills and a .235 hitting percentage, while Savannah Moore chipped in seven kills and nine digs. As a team, the Scots had 14 attacking errors, their third-lowest total this season.

Other notable contributors were Sydney Virgin with 15 assists, Rachel Sell with nine digs, and Anna Emmick with three block assists.

Gallaudet was aggressive at the service line, recording an impressive 11 aces, but negating them with 15 errors.

Next, the Scots head back home for a Friday night tilt with Albion (3-17) at Timken Gymnasium. The action is set to begin at 6 p.m.
