WOOSTER, Ohio – Led by senior Ksenia Klue and junior Jordan Murray, both of whom earned spots on the all-classic team, The College of Wooster volleyball team was the lone squad left with an unblemished record at this weekend's Ginny Hunt Kilt Classic, held at Timken Gymnasium. The Fighting Scots were winners of a trio of four-set matches, and swept aside the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford to open Saturday's action.

Klue finished one kill shy of her second 20-kill match of the season during Wooster's (10-4) 22-25, 25-22, 25-10, 25-17 win over Capital University in Friday's opener. The outside hitter played a big factor in Wooster turning in a lights-out .331 team hitting percentage that was aided greatly by junior Marija Cyvas and sophomore Erica Roberts, who combined for 16 kills on 30 swings with zero blemishes in the attack error column on the state sheet. Crafty setter Taylor Mathews finished two kills shy of a triple-double against the Crusaders, as the senior logged her co-team-high seventh double-double of the year with 40 assists and 12 digs. At the service line, the senior fired off five aces in the match. Junior Gabrielle Basinski led the defense with 19 digs with classmate Erin Rajewski supporting the winning effort with 14.

Wooster's strong attack percentage carried over to Friday's nightcap as the Scots hit a collective .254 during a 14-25, 25-17, 25-18, 25-19 win over Frostburg State University. The Scots really turned it on late with a strong closing set with only one error on 44 attack attempts and 16 kills. Klue paced the Scots with 15 kills, while hitting .359, and she scooted past Mathews with her team-best eighth double-double on the year, thanks to 16 digs. Other stats of note from the Frostburg State match include 18 digs by Basinski and eight kills from junior Mayia Karagianni.

In Saturday's opening, junior Ashley Plassard led the charge during a 25-22, 26-24, 29-27 win over Pitt.-Bradford with nine kills, five digs, and four blocks. Four Scots finished the tilt with at least five kills, including sophomore Kyana Harris and junior Eleri Miller. Defensively, Klue recorded a team-best 13 digs as the Scots held the Panthers to a hitting percentage just a touch north of .100.

The Scots' versatility, touted by veteran head coach Sarah Davis at the onset of the year, was on full display during Wooster's 25-20, 21-25, 25-21, 25-10 win over the Franciscan University of Steubenville that capped the Ginny Hunt Kilt Classic. Cyvas smashed down a career-high 14 kills, a total backed up by eight from Klue and seven by Miller.  At the service line, Mathews tallied a quartet of aces, while defensively, Murray logged 20 digs.

On the weekend, Klue continued to post similar numbers in both digs and kills with 46 and 45 respectively, good for averages north of 3.0 in each stat. Plassard continued to quietly compile a large tally in the blocking column, with 11 on the weekend, while Cyvas was right behind with 10.

Of note, Wooster's now 10-2 since the Kilt Classic was renamed in honor of program founder and strong advocate for women's athletics Ginny Hunt prior to the 2015 classic.

Capital's Kasey Parkhurst, Fransican's Maria Ciola, Frostburg State's Naya Cheatem, and Pitt.-Bradford's Riley Anderson rounded out the all-classic team.

Wooster is next in action at Carnegie Mellon University's DoubleTree Invitational, held in Pittsburgh Sept. 22-23.
