WOOSTER, Ohio – The College of Wooster volleyball team wrapped up North Coast Athletic Conference play with a 25-16, 25-14, 25-19 win over Allegheny College on Tuesday evening at Timken Gymnasium, and in doing so, the Fighting Scots secured a fifth-place NCAC finish, the program's highest since 2012.

Wooster (11-14, 4-4 NCAC) strung together an 8-2 run in the opening set, and that opened an 11-5 lead for the Scots. Senior Anna Medema was unstoppable during the stretch with four kills. Later, first-year Sydney Fitzcharles made a spectacular diving save on the sideline, and that eventually led to a kill by sophomore Katie Billetdeaux that made it a 16-8 set.

The Scots kept rolling in the second set, as Wooster opened with eight unanswered points. First-year Emily Gail logged three kills during the opening stretch, while senior Cami Miller came through with a solo block. First-year Hayley Nash and Gail kept stuffing the stat sheet with seven and five kills, respectively, in the frame.

Nash's first kill of the third set marked her 250th of the season, and it's the fourth straight year a Scots' had at least 250 for the year. Later, Allegheny (5-20, 0-8 NCAC) was within three after Jyl Russotti's kill at 21-18, but Wooster took charge from there. First, Miller and sophomore Brooke Swain blocked down Kristiana Hardisty's attack to bump the lead to four, and then the Gators' sophomore was denied again moments later by Billetdeaux and Nash. Three points later, Billetdeaux closed out the match with her 11th kill of the night.

Nash led all players with 15 kills, while junior Meghan Botsch and Fitzcharles were the co-leaders with 14 digs apiece. Of note, Fitzcharles surpassed 400 digs on the season. Other stats to note included eight digs and three aces by sophomore Seven Townsel and a .245 hitting percentage by the Scots.

Allegheny didn't have a single player log double-digit kills, and it's the second straight home match that's happened to Wooster's opponent. Rebecca MacQuarrie's 12 digs led the way for the Gators, who hit .018 on the night.

Wooster closes out the regular season with a tri-match on Saturday at Case Western Reserve University. The Scots play the host Spartans (9-15) at 11 a.m. and Buffalo State College (7-15) at 1 p.m.
