Nash at 300 Kills Again, as Wooster Tops Kenyon

Hayley Nash College of Wooster volleyball GAMBIER, Ohio – Junior Hayley Nash joined All-American KateLynn Riley as the lone College of Wooster volleyball players to have two 300-kill seasons in the current scoring era, and the Fighting Scots took care of host Kenyon College 25-22, 25-12, 23-25, 25-15 on Wednesday evening at Tomsich Arena.

Nash hit the milestone at 20-12 in the second set, and at that point Wooster (14-7, 3-3 North Coast Athletic Conference) was pouring it on, as the Scots ran away from the Lords (2-15, 0-6 NCAC) with a 15-3 set-closing run. Four points later, Nash put away kill five of the frame, and with it, the junior logged a new career-best with kill No. 301 for the year. With 11 kills on the night, Nash is now at 305 kills, the most since alumna Ksenia Klue's 337 in 2017.

Wooster's service game was on point all night with 13 aces, the most since the Scots fired off 18 against the State University of New York College at Buffalo in the 2019 regular season finale. Sophomore Trinity Harmon emerged at the forefront of Wednesday's total with a co-match-high four, three of which came during the second set, including two during Wooster's 15-3 run. Nash matched Harmon for the team-lead at four, with two of those coming in set four.

Speaking of set four, Wooster never let Kenyon into the frame, especially with the Ladies riding the momentum of winning set three. Junior Sydney Fitzcharles' kill sparked a 6-0 run that put Wooster up 8-5, and later the Scots added a 5-0 stretch to break the frame wide open.

Six Scots had at least five kills in the match, with Nash's 11 leading the way. Senior Katie Billetdeaux and junior Emily Gail contributed nine apiece, and Gail had the hot hand with a .643 hitting percentage. Fitzcharles was responsible for 14 of Wooster's 52 digs, and senior Seven Townsel was next at 12.

Macy Reimbold (12 kills), Ellie Luciani (18 digs), and Paige Milhon (seven blocks) were Keyon's top performers.

Wooster hit .269 to Kenyon's .137.

Next, Wooster hosts a tri-match on Saturday, October 23. The Scots are set to take on Hiram College (12-11, 3-3 NCAC) at 11 a.m. and Penn State Behrend (16-4) at 3 p.m.
