Scots Win on Senior Day in 3-1 Defeat of Kenyon
Davis collects 250th victory at Wooster
The College of Wooster volleyball team gave its seniors a win on senior day, defeating Kenyon College 3-1 (25-11, 25-16, 21-25, 25-23).
In the process, it was Wooster's first win in North Coast Athletic Conference play, as well as head coach Sarah Davis's 250th career win as head coach of the Fighting Scots.
Seniors Amelia Mitchell and Tamara Turner led the Scots' attack with 16 and 14 kills, respectively.
Classmate Lucy Kinser supplied a game-high 19 digs. Turner added 14 digs and Catherine Muzilla tallied 10.
Muzilla also had a game-high three service aces, and Emma Fleck led the way with 47 assists.
Wooster set the tone early with a dominating 25-11 first set win. And despite a somewhat slow start in the second set with some errors, Wooster turned an 11-10 advantage to a 25-16 second set win.
Kenyon (7-18, 1-4 NCAC) took the third set, which was a first for them in a while, having lost 3-0 the past six matches.
Yet, Wooster rebounded in the fourth set to take the victory. Kenyon did not make it easy, fending off five match points before a Mitchell kill ended the match.
Wooster moves to 12-14 overall and 1-4 in the NCAC. They will travel to Wittenberg University on Tuesday.
