» Men's Results | Women's Results

Freshman Suzanne Capehart got her cross-country collegiate career started for The College of Wooster on the right foot, as she placed second Friday in the unscored Denison University Fall Classic. Both the men’s and women’s races were held at the Bryn Du Mansion in Granville, Ohio.

Capehart clocked in at 15:39 in the Classic's 4,000-meter race. She came up just 24 seconds short of catching the winner, Denison's Brooke Boening who blazed to the line in 15:15. Wooster freshman Casey Henry followed in her classmate’s strides and led a trio of Scot runners capturing 15th-place (16:33) to nip freshman Chelsea Fisher in 16th (16:34) and senior Erin Fortin in 17th (16:37). First-year Jess Yarmosky rounded out the top-five for the Scots crossing the finish line in 22nd with a time of 16:51.

On the men’s side, a four-mile unscored event, Wooster's top finisher was sophomore Terry Workman. He crossed the line in 21:37, which was good for fourth-place. Twin brother Rick Workman was right on his heels with a sixth-place time of 21:55. Sophomore Jeff Jacobs finished in 16th (22:52) edging out junior Brian Loy who stopped the clock in 22:55 for 17th position and sophomore Zane Shelter in the 20th spot in 23:15.

The Scots now prepare for the Great Lakes Colleges Association (GLCA) Championships, hosted by Kenyon College in Gambier on Sept. 8. The race is scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m.
