Wooster Women Place Ninth in Div. III at All-Ohio’s, Men 14th

A trio of College of Wooster women was among the top-50 NCAA Div. III runners at the All-Ohio Intercollegiate Cross Country Championships, highlighting the Fighting Scots' results at the annual meet which brings together harriers from NCAA Div. I, II, and III schools as well as NAIA institutions from across the Buckeye state. The Fighting Scot women were 22nd of 42 overall, including ninth of the 21 Div. III schools, while the men finished 14th in Div. III and 28th overall.

 

Wooster sophomore Sarah Appleton and freshman Colleen O'Neil were not only top-50 in Div. III, but among the top-100 of all 285 competitors. Appleton covered the course at the Methodist Theological School in Delaware, Ohio, in 20:35.8 for a 25th-place showing in Div. III and 78th overall, while O'Neil was just a few strides behind with a time of 20:56.2 en route to 34th- and 99th-place finishes, respectively.

 

Also scoring for the Scots were Erin Plews-Ogan, another first-year who was the 46th Div. III runner to cross (21:16.1), and juniors Chelsea Fisher and Suzanne Capehart, who took 56th (21:32.1) and 74th (21:53.0) in the division, respectively.

 

Terry Workman paced the Wooster men as the senior finished 25th in Div. III and 77th out of 269 total harriers via a 28:20.5 time. The remainder of the Scots' scorers was top-100 within Div. III, with sophomore Ethan Rudawsky in 78th (29:57.1), sophomore Micah Caunter in 82nd (30:04.8), senior Rik Workman in 94th (30:27.5), and senior Jeff Lyman in 97th (30:31.9).
