The College of Wooster's men's and women's cross country teams had several newcomers mixed along with recurring names that stood out on Saturday at the NCAA Div. III Great Lakes Regional Championships at Terre Haute, Ind., highlighted by the women's squad which claimed 12th place and had three runners finish in the top-65.

The Fighting Scots men's team earned 23rd place (607 points), while the women earned an impressive 12th place (369 points) finish among the 34 school's competing, including a 44th place individual finish for first-year harrier Colleen O'Neil. The top-35 runners in each race earned all-region status, and O'Neil's time of 23:51.60 was just 15 seconds behind the cut line. Also posting solid times for the Wooster women were first-year Erin Ogan-Plews (24:12.10) and sophomore Sarah Appleton (24:22.61) who placed in 56th and 63rd place, respectively.

The men had two familiar faces lead the way, as senior brother's Rik (27:09.71) and Terry (27:15.63) Workman just missed top-50 finishes, crossing the finish line in 51st and 55th place. Sophomore Ethan Rudawsky was the next Scot to score, as his time of 28:28.71 was good for 143rd place in the field of 245 runners.

Perennial powerhouse Calvin College took top honors on both the men's (73 points) and women's (50 points) side, with the latter squad's seven runners all placing among the top-17 on the women's 6k course. The North Coast Athletic Conference's own Ohio Wesleyan University earned sixth place in the men's 8k race (231 points), while Wittenberg University nabbed seventh place (326 points) in women's action. Also shining was Denison University's Katie Navarre who finished in first place individually among the field of 225 female harriers.
