Wooster Teams, Hoover Earn Academic Honors from USTFCCCA

2019 USTFCCCA Cross Country Academic Awards Release 

The College of Wooster's men's and women's cross country teams continued their impressive runs of All-Academic Team honors from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association, while sophomore Isabelle Hoover picked up individual All-Academic honors, the coaches organization announced on Thursday.

Wooster's women's team has now earned the All-Academic Team award 15 times in the last 16 seasons, while the men have collected 14 honors in the last 15 years. Wooster's women came in with a 3.59 GPA, while the men came in at 3.23.

Hoover's sophomore season culminated with all-region honors at the Great Lakes Regional Championships. There, the classical languages major crossed in 29th-place at 22:19.2. She earned second-team All-North Coast Athletic Conference honors, thanks to a 10th-place time of 23:01.7 at the NCAC Championships. At the All-Ohio Championships, Hoover logged a time of 23:41.8, a clip sixth among Div. III harriers.

Criteria for the team honor includes compiling a team score at a NCAA regional meet and posting a minimum cumulative team GPA of 3.10 on a 4.0 scale. Individual honorees must have a cumulative GPA of 3.30 and finish in the top 25 percent of their respective regional championship meet.

Within the NCAC, Wooster, Allegheny College, DePauw University, Kenyon College, Oberlin College, Ohio Wesleyan University, and Wittenberg University saw both its men's and women's teams honored with All-Academic Team certificates. The Denison University women and Wabash College men were also honored.
