Sustained Academic Success Honored by USTFCCCA
Wooster men, women, Dylan Kretchmar honored for academic success
U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Release
The College of Wooster cross country team continues to have impeccable collective academic success, and both the men's and women's team earned U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association All-Academic Team honors on Thursday. On an individual level, senior Dylan Kretchmar repeated as a USTFCCCA All-Academic Athlete.
Wooster's women's cross country team posted a 3.75 GPA, while the men came in at 3.48. The women's honor is the program's 20th in the last 21 seasons, while the men are now 19-time qualifiers over the last two decades. Forty Fighting Scots from the cross country program were recently honored on the Athletic Director's Honor Roll at Wooster for having at least a 3.50 GPA for the fall semester.
Kretchmar, who earned a second individual academic accolade from the USTFCCCA, placed 63rd at the NCAA Div. III Great Lakes Regional Championship. The senior narrowly missed out on an All-North Coast Athletic Conference honor with a 22nd-place finish at the conference meet. Kretchmar's season-best championship-length time of 23:36.1 came at regionals.
Criteria for the team honor includes scoring at a NCAA regional meet and posting a cumulative GPA of at least 3.1 on a 4.0 scale. Individual accolades require a cumulative GPA of 3.30 and a finish within the top-25 percent of a regional championships meet.
