Lustic One of Wooster’s Best Facilitators
Alumna still holds top spot for career assists
Erin Lusticmade an immediate impact for the women’s soccer team when she transferred to The College of Wooster after playing Div. I at Wright State University as a first-year.
“Both of my sisters attended Wooster and it was a smaller campus with better academic opportunities,” shared Lustic on her decision to transfer. “I had to prove my ability to be a team player on an established team. I developed strong relationships with the incoming first-year class during preseason.”
Lustic more than proved her capabilities as a team player, totaling 72 points in three seasons for fifth all-time. Her 24 assists still rates as the top spot in program history after almost 20 years. Lustic’s 24 career goals are tied for the ninth-most in program history. She earned all-region honors all three years, receiving the recognition as a midfielder as a sophomore and as a forward her final two years.
At the North Coast Athletic Conference level, Lustic was a first-team all-conference selection all three years at Wooster and the league’s Offensive Player of the Year as a senior. Her accolades earned her a spot on the NCAC All-Decade Team.
Lustic tallied a program-best eight points in a game versus the University of Mount Union in 2005, something that has only been accomplished three other times at the College. No Scot has passed out three assists in a game since Lustic against Westminster College in 2004.
As a senior, Lustic was a team captain as Wooster made it to the NCAC Tournament semifinals. It was only the third time the program had reached the NCAC semifinals and the first time since 2003.
“When Erin joined the team, we could see she was a complete player,” summed up Geordie Brown, Wooster’s head coach. “Her work rate was so high that she never seemed to tire and she was able to produce moments of quality to help us win games. Erin was someone who only knew how to give 100 percent effort in every moment and her game awareness was second to none.”
Since graduating from Wooster with a degree in psychology, Lustic obtained her master’s from Mount Saint Joseph University in Cincinnati. She then began her career as an oncology nurse at the James Cancer Hospital in Columbus and continues to work there, having also obtained her oncology nursing certification.
Lustic currently lives in Columbus. She has a son, Emmett, who is following in her footsteps on the pitch.
