Track & Field Competes at Big Red Invite

GRANVILLE – The College of Wooster track and field teams Denison Invitational traveled to Denison University to compete in their invitational on Friday, in preparation of the upcoming North Coast Athletic Conference Championships.

Amongst the top performers, Wooster had just one winner in each of the women's and men's teams.

Senior Ainsley Wiesner won the hammer throw in 169 feet, 10 inches. Meanwhile, senior Dylan Garretsonreached 15 feet, nine inches for first in the pole vault.

Wiesner had additional top three finishes. She was second (38 feet, five inches) in the shot put and third in the javelin (110 feet, five inches).

Evie Sanford was third in the discus (125 feet, one inch)

Athena Tharenos was second in the 1500 (4:48.47), while Dylan Kretchmar was second in the 3000 (11:14.40).

In the 400, Igna Mendez ran 1:01.28 for third.

Senior Joe Shilts had a second place showing in the 400 hurdles (58.36 seconds).

In other field events, Rob Mays III's best finish was fourth in the javelin (128 feet, eight inches). Luke Henke finished fourth in the high jump (6 feet, .75 inches)

Next, select individuals will compete in the NCAC Decathlon/Heptathlon on Saturday and Sunday. The Scots will participate in the NCAC Championships May 3-4.
