The College of Wooster scored a season-high 19 runs in Sunday's second game, highlighting the Fighting Scots' second sweep of North Coast Athletic Conference East Division foe Hiram College in as many days, this time cruising to 12-3 and 19-5 wins at Hiram, Ohio.

Wooster (20-8, 8-2 NCAC East) batted around during three successive innings of the nightcap while accounting for 15 of those 19 runs during the third, fourth, and fifth.

Entering the top of the third up 2-1, the Scots loaded the bases with a leadoff walk, followed by consecutive errors by Hiram (6-24, 3-13 NCAC East). It looked like the Terriers might escape any damage until Ryan Ostendorf delivered a two-run single, then Drew Tornow plated another with a base knock and Jacob Solomon followed with a double that brought in two more.

In the fourth, Wooster loaded the bases with one out and Jamie Lackner singled in a pair of runs, and next, the offense took advantage of another error as it added two unearned tallies for an 11-1 lead.

The Scots broke the game open further with a six-run fifth inning. Lackner again had a two-run single, while other RBI were produced by an Ostendorf single, a Solomon walk, a Kenny Reckart sacrifice fly, and a Chandler Dippman single.

Zach Woullard threw a quality start in earning the win (4-1), as he gave up just one run on five hits over six innings. The senior right-hander stuck out six.

Wooster's offense, and starting pitching for that matter, was also sharp during game one. The Scots kicked off the afternoon with a four-run top of the first, with each of their first four batters reaching as Jake Fling walked, Joey Gilmore singled, Michael Wielansky legged out a bunt for a hit, and Lackner got to first via an error. They all scored.

After the Terriers crept back within 5-2 through four innings, Wooster loaded the bases without an out recorded during the top of the fifth. Ostendorf singled in between walks to Lackner and Tornow, and the Scots turned them into a couple of runs.

Fling and Wielansky both doubled during the sixth for another tally and 8-2 cushion, and Wooster's four-run seventh inning was headlined by Lackner's first of three two-run singles on the day.

On the mound, Tyler Schuch was solid as the junior southpaw posted a quality start of six innings, three runs allowed on five hits, and five strikeouts, while upping his perfect record to 5-0.

In addition to Lackner's five-hit (5-for-8), eight-RBI performance, Fling (3-for-6), Gilmore (3-for-8), Wielansky (3-for-6), Tornow (3-for-4), and Solomon (3-for-7, six RBI) all contributed three hits on the day.

The Scots will play another divisional doubleheader on Wednesday when they welcome Kenyon College (20-11, 6-4 NCAC East) to Art Murray Field for the completion of their four-game set from earlier this month. The twin bill will start at 1 p.m.
