Scots Win Second Straight, Defeat Wabash 19-7

Celebration
The Scots celebrate after scoring one of their 19 goals against the Little Giants on Saturday.

The College of Wooster men's lacrosse team picked up their second straight win with a 19-7 victory over Wabash College on Saturday.

Both teams are now 5-8 overall, while Wooster moves to 3-1 in the North Coast Athletic Conference, and Wabash drops to 1-3.

Senior Joe Altieri, back after missing the team's win over Whittier College, made plenty of plays on the baseline behind the opposing goal and racked up a game-high eight assists. He was one shy of tying the program record for assists in a game.

Altieri was responsible for creating four of Wooster's six goals in the first quarter including the opening two, which were scored by Drake Nickolaison.

Shaun Peirce scored his first goal to make it 3-0, and he finished the game with eight goals, which was also one shy of tying the program record for goals in a game. Oddly enough, Altieri connected with Peirce only twice in game. On the year, Altieri sits on 24 assists, and Pierce has 38 goals.

Nickolaison finished with four goals, while Connor Mangan score twice. Scoring one goal in the game was Ted Wells, Cullen Kuhn, Altieri, Cole Brennan and Dillon Chipman. It was Brennan's and Chipman's first goals as a Fighting Scot.

Wooster held an 11-5 lead at halftime and only pulled away further with an 8-2 second half.

Joe Citera had 11 ground balls and a 14-for-24 clip in faceoffs. Wesley Wagner made six saves to collect the win in goal.

Wooster will finish off a three-game home stand Wednesday when they take on Denison University.
