Abena Boamah-Acheampong finished in 11th-place during Friday afternoon's high jump competition at the NCAA Div. III Track & Field Championships in La Crosse, Wis., as The College of Wooster wrapped up its 2013 outdoor season. On Thursday, Erin Plews-Ogan, the NCAA Elite 89 winner, took 17th in the steeplechase.

Boamah-Acheampong, a senior, set the tone for the high jump, as she not only drew the leadoff spot out of the 22 competitors, but cruised through the first four heights, clearing each one – 5 feet, 1 inch, 5 feet, 3 inches, 5 feet, 4.5 inches, and 5 feet, 5.75 inches – on her first attempt.

Only five others were perfect through 5 feet, 5.75 inches, but then Boamah-Acheampong was unable to get over the 5 foot, 7-inch bar this time as she settled for a tie for 11th. She had cleared that height three times earlier this spring, including a school-record 5 feet, 8 inches on April 26.

It caps an outstanding career for Boamah-Acheampong as she was a seven-time champion at North Coast Athletic Conference Championship meets, winning the high jump both indoors and outdoors each of the last three seasons plus the outdoor triple jump as a sophomore, in addition to four appearances at the NCAA Championships (three outdoor, one indoor).
