Scots Have Final Tune Up Before NCAC Championships

GRANVILLE, Ohio – The College of Wooster track and field teams competed Friday in the non-scoring Denison Invitational as the Scots continue to prepare for next weekend's North Coast Athletic Conference Championships.

Nine different teams traveled to Granville to take part in the event. Wooster captured two wins on the night, both coming from the women's team.

Isabelle Hoover took the 3,000 meter run in 10:51.55, besting the field by eight seconds, and Akwia Tilton won the long jump with a final leap of 17 feet, 0.5 inches.

Elsewhere, Aedan Pettit was .01 seconds from joining Tilton and Hoover in the winner's column, but he had to settle for a second place finish in the 1,500 run with at time of 4:08.51.

Spencer Wilson finished third in the shot put (45 feet, 10.5 inches), fourth in the discus (134 feet, 11 inches) and fourth in the hammer throw (140 feet, 8 inches).

The women had a pair of third place finishes in field events as Georgia Hopps-Weber placed third in the pole vault (10 feet, 6 inches), and Claudia Partridge reached 4 feet, 11 inches for third in the high jump.

Audrey Cordova was fourth in the 400 hurdles (1:11.74), and Zoe Covey was fifth in the 800 run at 2:28.10.

Saturday is actually the beginning of the NCAC Championships with the decathlon/heptathlon events taking place at Oberlin College. Action starts at noon.
