Garretson Concludes Stellar Career at Div. III Championships

Dylan Garretson, Wooster Track & Field MYRTLE BEACH, South Carolina – The College of Wooster's Dylan Garretson concluded his outstanding track and field career at the NCAA Div. III Championships on Thursday afternoon. Unfortunately, the Fighting Scots' star pole vaulter was unsuccessful clearing the opening height of 14 feet, 10.75 inches.

The two-time All-American won his seventh North Coast Athletic Conference pole vault title earlier this month, clearing 16 feet, 0.75 inch. His season-best of 16 feet, 4 inches was the winning clearance at the Div. III All-Ohio Championships, where he was a five-time champion. In all, Garretson qualified for six national championships, was a seven-time U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association All-Great Lakes Region performer, and earned seven all-conference honors. He is the program's record holder in both the indoor (16 feet, 7.5 inches) and outdoor (16 feet, 4.75 inches) pole vault.

Junior Daysia Hargrave is up next at the NCAA Div. III Championships. She competes in the preliminary heats of the 100-meter hurdles at 4:10 p.m.
