Scots Earn Six All-Ohio Honors Over Weekend
Robertson, Callender go one-two in steeplechase
DELAWARE, Ohio – Seniors Drew Robertson and Will Callender went one-two in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, and The College of Wooster track and field program earned six All-Ohio honors at the All-Ohio Championships. Wooster's men were ninth of 14 scoring teams, while the women placed ninth of 13 scoring teams.
Robertson broke the tape in Friday's steeplechase with a time of 9:31.94, and was backed up by Callender's 9:36.81. Robertson went on to score a second All-Ohio certificate in the 1,500 meters, with his third-place time coming in at 3:57.38.
On the women's side, senior Daysia Hargrave was a two-time All-Ohio performer, placing third in the 100- and 400-meter hurdles with times of 14.46 and 1:05.37, respectively. Senior Elise Greenwald was the women's team's top performer, logging a 39:23.24 in the 10,000 meters for runner-up honors and All-Ohio status.
Other top-five individual finishes included senior Echo Kidd and junior Evie Sanford. Kidd's clearance of 6 feet, 3.25 inches ranked fourth in the men's high jump. Sanford went 38 feet, 8.75 inches to place fifth in the shot put and later took seventh in the discus at 121 feet.
Wooster's 4x100 relays both placed fifth. On the men's side, sophomore Will Harris II, senior Liam Regan, sophomore Cooper Norwell, and junior Khaleel Manderson posted a time of 43.72. On the women's side, sophomore Claire Davis, junior Izzy Cozzie, first-year Emeili Tarpy, and Hargrave went 51.42.
Elsewhere, junior Jake George's 58.27 was the sixth-place score in the 400-meter hurdles, while senior Amelia Mitchell scored in the high jump and 200 meters. Her clearance of 4 feet, 8.25 inches was sixth in the high jump, while the senior went 26.11 for eighth-place in the 200 meters. Senior Igna Mendez ran a 2:20.71 to take seventh in the 800 meters, sophomore Nate Chartrand posted a time of 50.82 for eighth in the 400 meters, and Davis reached 31 feet, 3.75 inches for an eighth-place showing in the triple jump.
Baldwin Wallace University led the men's standings with 172 points, while Ohio Northern University scored 139 points to win the women's team title.
Next, Wooster competes at Kenyon College's Duane Gomez Invitational on Saturday, April 19.
