Scots Compete at Jenna Strong Classic

The College of Wooster cross country teams competed in the Jenna Strong Fall Classic hosted by Wilmington College on Friday as the women placed 10th of 31 teams and the men placed 17th of 33.

Sophomore Isabelle Hoover once again led the Scots with a 13th place finish and a time of 18:54.3 in running the 5K. Classmate Kayla Bertholf followed in 32nd with a time of 19:34.7.

Further down the field of 318, sophomore Rachel Osterhouse ran to a time of 20:35.8 to finish 76th. First-year Abby Rice was 90th in 20:47 and sophomore Marian Overfield rounded out scoring for the women in 101st with a time of 21:03.

The women combined for 294 points, finishing one point ahead of Ashland University. Division I schools Ohio State University and Wright State University finished first and second, respectively. Kenyon College was the top Division III school, finishing third.

On the men's side, the Buckeyes also finished atop the standings, while Wooster's 554 points was one shy of 17th place.

Senior Miki Rae was the top 8K runner for the Scots, finishing 55th overall with a time of 27:00.1. Classmate Aedan Pettit finished 87th at 27:44.

Sophomore Alexander DeLong scored next, finishing 181st with a time of 29:05.7. Classmate Grant Sprague was not too far behind at 197th and a time of 29:23.6 as was junior Jackson Todd who rounded out scoring in 199th with a time of 29:25.5.

The cross country teams will be back in action next Saturday at the Kenyon Dual Meet.
