Prior to Wooster: First-team all-state (Div. V) as a senior offensive lineman (left tackle) at nearby Smithville High School, and tabbed on the OHSFCA All-Academic Team as well … Also first-team all-district and all-Wayne County Athletic League under legendary coach Keith Schrock … A standout wrestler for the Smithies, too, finishing fourth-place in the state at 285 pounds, just the second state placer in school history.
