Cross Country Competes at Jenna Strong Classic
Robertson posts career-best fourth place finish in meet
The College of Wooster cross country teams competed in Wilmington College's Jenna Strong Fall Classic on Friday and both teams posted top 10 finishes.
The men finished in seventh place of 22 teams with 191 points. The women placed eighth of 17 scoring teams with 199 points.
On the men's side, Cedarville University dominated the field to win with 45 points.
Wittenberg University (138) came in third, while Kenyon College (143) finished fourth.
Senior Drew Robertson improved from a sixth-place finish last year to place fourth overall with a time of 25:12.6 on Friday.
Classmate Eric Johnson went from 60th last year to Wooster's second-best runner at 22nd (26:21.8). Senior Ben Nichols also saw improvement from last year, finishing in 45th (26:46.7).
Joe Ahmann finished in 80th (27:50.8), Basil Keck in 96th (28:14.7) and Zane DeMercurio finished in 102nd (28:21.3). Jack Schuller came in at 110th (28:32.9).
On the women's side, Woostetr finished ahead against the likes of Transylvania University (204), Muskingum University (235) and Heidelberg University (307).
NCAC foes Kenyon finished ahead of them in seventh (179), while Wittenberg won the meet with 65 points, edging the Franciscan University of Steubenville by one point.
Sophomore Reeve Helvoigt had a nice push toward the end of the race to place 22nd and ended up being Wooster's top runner at 19:38.
Senior Dylan Kretchmar was not far behind, finishing 24th in 19:39.2
First-year Eilidh Horn scored next for the Scots, finishing in 51st with a time of 20:53.5.
Horn led a pack of Scots with finishes at 61st (Isabelle Dwyer, 20:56.6), 71st (Jessie Breth, 21:04.6) and 73rd (Igna Mendez, 21:14.1). Julianna Fiori finished in 89th (21:49.3).
Next, Wooster will look forward to the North Coast Athletic Conference Championships taking place Nov. 3 at DePauw University.
