Robertson Earns All-Region Honors
Senior finishes 12th as teams compete in regional championships
SHELBYVILLE, Ind. – Senior Drew Robertson earned himself All-Region honors on Saturday as The College of Wooster men's and women's cross country teams competed in the NCAA Division III Great Lakes Regional Championships in Shelbyville, Ind.
The men finished 18th of 42 teams with 468 points, while the women finished 21st of 39 teams with 601 points.
Robertson came in at 12th overall with a time of 25:12.4. The senior has shown continued progress in the regional meet, picking up his second consecutive All-Region accolade after finishing 22nd a year ago.
Classmate Will Callender followed in 73rd (26:31.5) as he and Eric Johnson (83rd, 26:39.3) were separated by just 10 spots.
Ben Nichols came across in 83rd (26:39.3) while first-year Basil Keck wrapped up Wooster's scoring in 186th (28:22.9).
Also running for the Scots were juniors Jack Schuller (220th, 29:13.2) and Joe Ahmann (224th, 29:25.1)
Calvin University won the meet with 99 points, while Wabash's Brayden Curnutt's time of 24:36.9 was fast enough to earn him the podium.
John Carroll University (112), Hope College (129) and Case Western Reserve University (137) rounded out the top four.
Robertson still has some hope to continue his season at the national meet if all three of those teams get selected as at-large bids, which will be announced Sunday.
Two Scots finished in the top 100 as senior Dylan Kretchmar led the women's team in 63rd at a time of 23:36.1. Sophomore Reeve Helvoigt capped off her sophomore campaign next for Wooster finishing 81st at 23:56.
In 132nd, senior Elise Greenwald ran a time of 24:48.8. Senior Isabelle Dwyer was Wooster's fourth best runner in 158th with a time of 25:17.9, and Jessie Breth wrapped up Wooster's scoring running 25:37.6 for 176th.
Also running for Wooster were seniors Igna Mendez (186th, 25:52.7) and Julianna Fiori (216th, 26:40.5).
North Coast Athletic Conference foe DePauw University won the women's meet, scoring 91 points and holding off Calvin, who scored 91. Wilmington College's Faith Duncan won the meet at 20:59.
