  • Drushal an AVCA Third-Team All-American, Riley Honorable Mention

    The College of Wooster’s senior libero, Ali Drushal, earned a third-team All-American award from the American Volleyball Coaches Association, while junior teammate KateLynn Riley collected honorable mention status as a result of being part of the All-Great Lakes Region First Team.
  • Drushal, Riley First Scots Ever Named to AVCA All-Region Team

    Ali Drushal and KateLynn Riley became the first from The College of Wooster volleyball program to be selected to the All-Great Lakes Region Team. The AVCA’s all-region awards were established in 1996 and by being part of the 14-member team, Drushal and Riley are now eligible for the All-America Team.
  • Scots Win Three Individual Awards, Four on All-NCAC Teams

    Wooster collected three of the North Coast Athletic Conference’s four individual awards, highlighted by senior Ali Drushal being named the NCAC Libero of the Year for the third-consecutive season as announced by league officials. Joining Drushal on the all-league first team was junior middle hitter KateLynn Riley, while senior outside hitter Megan Earle was tabbed an all-NCAC honorable mention recipient.
  • Terriers End Scots’ Season In NCAC Tourney Semifinals

    Winners of 10 of its last 13 matches to finish out the regular season, Wooster’s late-season run of momentum came to an end Friday evening for a second-straight season to Hiram College in the semifinals of the North Coast Athletic Conference Tournament. The No. 2 seeded Fighting Scots fell in three sets to the No. 3 seeded Terriers 27-25, 25-14, 25-22, and ended their 2008 campaign with an overall record of 20-13, marking the most victories since the 2005 season.

    The Wooster volleyball team posted its first 20-win season since 2005 by sweeping Denison 25-20, 25-22, 25-17. The Fighting Scots move to 20-12 this fall and 13-3 in the NCAC, notching their first 20-victory season since the 2005 squad went 25-7.

    Ohio Wesleyan came into Timken Gymnasium Wednesday night with ideas of pulling out a key North Coast Athletic Conference road win against the College of Wooster volleyball team, but the Scots didn’t allow that to happen, prevailing in three sets over the Battling Bishops by scores of 25-18, 25-11, 25-19.
  • Scots Post Two Wins Saturday, Including Conference Affair Over Kenyon

    The Wooster volleyball team continued its push toward the upcoming North Coast Athletic Conference postseason tournament with back-to-back victories over conference foe Kenyon College (0-26, 0-15 NCAC) and non-conference Otterbein College (8-20).

    Junior hitter KateLynn Riley became the sixth player in school history to reach the 1,000-kill mark for her career, and helped the Wooster volleyball team comeback from a two-set deficit against North Coast Athletic Conference foe Allegheny for a 3-2 win.
  • Wooster Swept In Highly Competitive Tri-Match, Beal Records Rare Triple-Double

    After defeating Earlham in straight sets on Friday night, the Wooster volleyball team saw itself get swept by North Coast Athletic Conference foe and No. 5-ranked Wittenberg University 25-14, 25-22, 25-18 Saturday in the opener of a highly competitive tri-match. Wooster went on to drop its second match of the day to Heidelberg 27-29, 25-13, 25-15, 25-14.

    The Wooster volleyball team used a balanced attack to power past North Coast Athletic Conference rival Earlham, sweeping the Quakers in straight sets (25-9, 25-21, 25-19).

    The Wooster volleyball battled with North Coast Athletic Conference foe Denison (6-13, 3-4 NCAC), eventually pulling out a grueling come-from-behind three sets to two by scores of 25-11, 23-25, 19-25, 25-21, 15-12 over the Big Red.
  • Scot Spikers Continue Winning Ways With 3-0 Conference Sweep Over Hiram

    Wooster continued its winning ways with a straight-set victory over Hiram in North Coast Athletic Conference action. The Fighting Scots swept the Terriers by scores of 25-20, 25-19, 26-24 to improve to 12-9 overall on the year and 6-2 in conference play, and also snap an eight-match losing skid to Hiram dating back to the 2005 season.
  • Wooster Winners of Seven of Its Last Nine Matches Following Sweep Over OWU

    In a North Coast Athletic Conference battle, Wooster jumped out in the first set and never looked back in the conference victory over Ohio Wesleyan. The Scots swept all three sets by scores of 25-14, 25-16, 25-14.
  • Wooster Splits A Pair of Matches, Including Win in NCAC Tilt Over Kenyon

    Wooster split a pair of matches Saturday afternoon inside Timken Gymnasium as part of a tri-match with North Coast Athletic Conference foe Kenyon College and Malone College. With the one conference win and one non-conference defeat, the Fighting Scots moved their record to 10-9 overall and 4-2 in the NCAC.

    The Wooster volleyball team moved its record over the .500 mark both overall and in the North Coast Athletic Conference by sweeping visiting Oberlin College in straight sets (25-18, 25-20, 25-15).

    Wooster easily defeated Earlham in straight sets by scores of 25-17, 25-21, 25-13. During a tri-match Saturday, the Scots ran into a buzzsaw in North Coast Athletic Conference powerhouse and No.8 ranked Wittenberg, falling by scores of 11-25, 15-25, 11-25. During the second match of the day, Wooster avenged a pair of losses during the 2007 season to Mt. Union, coming out on top in three sets by tallies of 25-14, 25-17, 25-23.

    Allegheny raced out and grabbed a two sets to one lead against Wooster, but the Scots mounted a comeback and rallied to win 16-25, 25-17, 28-30, 25-18, 15-10.

    The Wooster volleyball team battled with North Coast Athletic Conference foe Hiram over five tight sets, eventually coming up short 17-25, 26-24, 25-23, 21-25, 13-15. Wooster went on to victory in its second match of the day, a hard-fought four-set match over Defiance by scores of 19-25, 25-22, 25-19, 25-22.

    Wanting to get back to the .500 mark on the season, the Wooster volleyball ran into some stiff competition during the Marcia French Memorial Tournament. During the two-day, seven-school event, the Fighting Scots notched a 1-3 record.

  • Scot Volleyball Honored for Work in the Classroom

    The College of Wooster's volleyball team was recently recognized as one of 353 high school and college programs to earn a 2007-08 American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award. The award, initiated in the 1992-93 academic year, annually honors men's and women's college and high school teams that display excellence in the classroom by maintaining at least a 3.30 cumulative team grade-point average on a 4.0 scale or a 4.10 cumulative team GPA on a 5.0 scale during the school year.
