Drushal an AVCA Third-Team All-American, Riley Honorable Mention

The College of Wooster’s senior libero, Ali Drushal, earned a third-team All-American award from the American Volleyball Coaches Association, while junior teammate KateLynn Riley collected honorable mention status as a result of being part of the All-Great Lakes Region First Team.

Drushal, Riley First Scots Ever Named to AVCA All-Region Team

Ali Drushal and KateLynn Riley became the first from The College of Wooster volleyball program to be selected to the All-Great Lakes Region Team. The AVCA’s all-region awards were established in 1996 and by being part of the 14-member team, Drushal and Riley are now eligible for the All-America Team.

Wooster collected three of the North Coast Athletic Conference’s four individual awards, highlighted by senior Ali Drushal being named the NCAC Libero of the Year for the third-consecutive season as announced by league officials. Joining Drushal on the all-league first team was junior middle hitter KateLynn Riley, while senior outside hitter Megan Earle was tabbed an all-NCAC honorable mention recipient.

Terriers End Scots’ Season In NCAC Tourney Semifinals

Winners of 10 of its last 13 matches to finish out the regular season, Wooster’s late-season run of momentum came to an end Friday evening for a second-straight season to Hiram College in the semifinals of the North Coast Athletic Conference Tournament. The No. 2 seeded Fighting Scots fell in three sets to the No. 3 seeded Terriers 27-25, 25-14, 25-22, and ended their 2008 campaign with an overall record of 20-13, marking the most victories since the 2005 season.

Scots Sweep Denison For Win No. 20

The Wooster volleyball team posted its first 20-win season since 2005 by sweeping Denison 25-20, 25-22, 25-17. The Fighting Scots move to 20-12 this fall and 13-3 in the NCAC, notching their first 20-victory season since the 2005 squad went 25-7.

Ohio Wesleyan came into Timken Gymnasium Wednesday night with ideas of pulling out a key North Coast Athletic Conference road win against the College of Wooster volleyball team, but the Scots didn’t allow that to happen, prevailing in three sets over the Battling Bishops by scores of 25-18, 25-11, 25-19.

After defeating Earlham in straight sets on Friday night, the Wooster volleyball team saw itself get swept by North Coast Athletic Conference foe and No. 5-ranked Wittenberg University 25-14, 25-22, 25-18 Saturday in the opener of a highly competitive tri-match. Wooster went on to drop its second match of the day to Heidelberg 27-29, 25-13, 25-15, 25-14.

Scot Spikers Continue Winning Ways With 3-0 Conference Sweep Over Hiram

Wooster continued its winning ways with a straight-set victory over Hiram in North Coast Athletic Conference action. The Fighting Scots swept the Terriers by scores of 25-20, 25-19, 26-24 to improve to 12-9 overall on the year and 6-2 in conference play, and also snap an eight-match losing skid to Hiram dating back to the 2005 season.

Wooster split a pair of matches Saturday afternoon inside Timken Gymnasium as part of a tri-match with North Coast Athletic Conference foe Kenyon College and Malone College. With the one conference win and one non-conference defeat, the Fighting Scots moved their record to 10-9 overall and 4-2 in the NCAC.
